Faith · Succession & Formation-Fit Matching

Troika Threshold

Fit, not fill. A candidate's Troika Score meets a church's Berean Score through one consent-based, revocable bridge — introduced by a Troika consultant, never decided by an algorithm.

Job boards and search firms fill openings. Troika Threshold forms and matches people. We are not an open, transactional job board — and we never reduce a calling to a posting.

Five questions, before any answer

This isn't a pitch. It's a set of questions about the people God has entrusted to your house — worth sitting with before anything else.

Do you have a succession plan?

Do you have a Joshua?

Someone being formed alongside the leader — the way Joshua did not leave the tent for forty years (Exodus 33:11; Deuteronomy 34:9).

Do you have an Aaron and a Hur?

People who hold up the leader's arms beside him, not just after him (Exodus 17:8–13).

Do they share the same heartbeat?

Have they been forming?

1 Timothy 3:1–7 · Titus 1:5–9

Why formation, not résumé

Of roughly fifteen things Scripture asks of an overseer, only “able to teach” is a skill. The rest — above reproach, temperate, self-controlled, hospitable, gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money — is character, proven over time. Pressure reveals formation; it does not create it.

About half of churches enter a leadership transition with no plan in place (Barna), and the average pastor in America is now 57 — up from 50 just two decades ago (Faith Communities Today). This isn't a crisis of talent. Scripture never asked for talent.

How it works

Two doors, one bridge between them. Neither side has to do anything special to be found — but both are worth doing right.

For candidates

1

Take the Troika Score

A 63-item formation assessment across nine virtues — Attitude, Behavior, Character. Not a personality test. A baseline mirror of who you are becoming.

2

Add your accountability partners

10 minimum, 15 ideal — the people who actually know you. This is what turns a self-report into a real formation record, not just an opinion of yourself.

3

Opt in to Troika Threshold

One toggle on your own results page. You choose to become visible for formation-fit introductions — nothing is shared with any church until you separately consent to a specific introduction.

For churches

1

Add TMOS to your church

One operating system for people, calendar, giving, volunteers, and formation — the same house your own staff and leadership already use.

2

Your Berean Score forms automatically

As your leaders, staff, volunteers, and members engage the house, TMOS reads real formation health across all four constituencies — no separate survey to run.

3

Open a position, when you're ready

In Succession settings, mark a seat open to outside candidates and set your formation floor. A consultant brings you qualified, formation-fit introductions — band only, never a name, until you both consent.

Why Troika Threshold is different

Not a better résumé database. Not a personality test with Bible verses on it. A different question entirely.

Formation-fit, not résumé-fit

Job boards and staffing databases match on résumé, availability, and references. Troika Threshold matches a candidate's Troika Score to a church's Berean Score — who someone is becoming, not just what they've done.

Consultant-brokered, never self-serve

No public profiles to browse, no swipe, no open marketplace. A Troika consultant creates every introduction personally, and reviews each candidate's standing before doing so.

A mirror, never a grade

The church side never sees a raw number — only a formation band. There is no leaderboard, no ranking, no algorithmic score to game.

Consent-based and revocable, always

Either side can withdraw at any point, and that withdrawal collapses the introduction immediately for both — not just for future matches.

What Troika Threshold is not

A predictor of job performance?

No. A mirror for discernment and conversation — one input among many for the people who own the decision.

A pass/fail screen or a numeric cutoff?

No. There is no score to clear or fail. Only descriptive bands — Emerging, Growing, Established, Deepening, Abiding.

A ranking, a leaderboard, or a 'best candidate'?

No. Candidates are never compared to each other. Fit is read one relationship at a time.

A replacement for your board's or committee's authority?

No. The Guide never decides a placement or a successor. A Troika consultant introduces; your house discerns and decides — exactly where your polity already puts that authority.

An open job board you browse yourself?

No. There is no public browse or search for either side. Every introduction is created by a Troika consultant, one at a time.

Planned, sudden, or born out of crisis

Succession is built into the operating system at onboarding, not improvised after a loss. If God's chosen successor isn't already in the house, Troika Threshold and a Troika consultant walk the search with you — whether the season is a planned retirement, a sudden departure, or the aftermath of a leader's moral failure, which follows Troika's own Post-Failure framework: restoration to fellowship is never assumed to mean restoration to office.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9
